What is hyperpigmentation and sun damage?

Sun damage is a common form of hyperpigmentation – it presents as dark patches on the skin, known as sun spot. Pigmentation becomes more noticeable with age. The best treatment is sun avoidance and using a high factor broad spectrum sun protection factor. However, for most of us the damage is already done and sun spots and hyperpigmentation appears in our late 30’s onwards. The best treatment for sun spots or treatment for sun damage is Laser pigmentation removal and topical preparations to support the treatment.

How does laser and IPL pigmentation removal work?

The IPL laser is attracted to the darker pigment, shatters the pigment and draws it to the surface. It’s important to be aware that often to the pigmentation will appear worse for a few days as the melanin rises to the surface and flakes off. Hyperpigmentation treatment will work as an effective sun damage skin treatment, freckle removal treatment, and reduce dark blemishes and sun spots. As it’s an IPL treatment it also has the added benefit of rejuvenating the skin – after a course of Alpha Formatk Pigmentation Reduction Laser treatments you will be left with a brighter, clearer, and more even skin tone.

Can laser and IPL treatment work for melasma?

It is worth noting that our Alpha Formatk Pigment laser (IPL) for hyperpigmentation treatment may not be suitable for you if you are suffering from melasma. A full consultation with our skin expert is required as other treatments may be more appropriate.
